It's the smallest dogs who have the biggest personalities. Ask anyone who owns a Dachshund. These little dogs make a huge impression in the household. And god forbid you try to wake up without your Doxie by your side, as one woman experienced for herself recently.

The Doxie's owner must love company because the little guy wouldn't leave her alone for even a second.

Take a video she shared on her pup's TikTok page, @martytheween. The Doxie mom couldn't even get up to wash her face in the morning before her pup climbed on top of her and put his head right on her mouth. No matter how much the woman tried to shake her Dachshund off, Marty was determined to get as close to her face as possible.

"POV: It's morning and you have a Dachshund," she wrote in the text overlay, before asking in the caption if this is perhaps a universal experience. "They all do this right?" she asked.

The Dachshund owners in the comments section were in agreement: all their pups do the same darn thing. "Mine does this and if she can feel you breathing she adjusts to make sure you can’t," shared one commenter. "Omg! Yes! The suffocation snuggles!!" gushed another person. "I have three and they all do this at the same time," added someone else. "Omg do they all do this?! I have a Chiweenie and she does this every morning!!!" one woman chimed in.

Why Dachshunds Are So Clingy

The truth is, it is pretty normal for Doxies to be sort of velcro dogs. But if you're finding that your dog is even more needy than usual, there might be some serious reasons why that's the case.

When dogs are sick they'll tend to stick by their owners. That means they are looking for attention from their humans. Pay attention to signs that your dog might not be feeling well, like changes in their eating habits, fluctuations in weight, or problems with bowel movements.

Another major cause of Doxie dependency is separation anxiety. These guys don't really do well when left alone for hours on end. So if you notice that your dog is super clingy when you get home you might want to contact a trainer to work through the issue.

Changes in their routine can also cause them to want to get close. Remember, dogs thrive on routine. So when things aren't consistent it can make them feel insecure — hence the morning suffocation snuggles.

Or they could just naturally run a tad thirsty for attention, like Marty here.
