Woman who spent £10 on a house prize draw wins £3.5m mansion

A woman who spent £10 on a house prize draw after her husband forgot to buy a ticket has won an incredible £3.5m mansion.

Becca Pott, 32, from London, won a stunning five-bedroom, dream house in Ascot, the latest prize in the Omaze Million Pound House Draw.

Pott, a finance analyst, who is currently on maternity leave, and her husband Ben, 32, an accountant, have been married for two years and had their first child Ava last summer.

Though Mr Pott normally buys a ticket, this time he forget, but after having her memory jogged by a TV ad, his wife remembered.

The couple currently live in their two-bedroom flat in Leyton, East London, which they bought in 2017, but are about to see themselves jumping several rungs up the housing ladder.

Their new £3.5m home is an incredible white stucco property with stunning views overlooking a beautiful private garden.

The large, pillared entrance porch leads guests into a spacious entrance hall complete with fireplace and lift.

Other covetable features include a state-of-the-art kitchen, five bedrooms, three dressing rooms, four luxury bathrooms, a spacious drawing room, a family orangery, a night kitchen, a hot tub and a three-car garage.

The property is conveniently located about a third of a mile from Ascot High Street and the world-famous Ascot Racecourse and for commuters it is less than one hour from London.

“My husband had entered every Omaze Million Pound House Draw prior to this one, but somehow he’d forgotten to enter on this occasion," she explains.

"Luckily, without him knowing, I decided to buy a £10 ticket bundle in January after seeing the house on television.

"I’m never going to let him live this down," she adds.

Describing the win as "truly life changing" Mrs Pott, says the family's new house is incredible.

“We’ve been wanting to move to somewhere bigger since our daughter Ava was born, now she’ll be having her first birthday in a mansion," she says.

"We didn’t have space for her grandparents to come and stay in our two-bedroom flat, but now they can have the entire third floor when they visit."

The couple found out they’d scooped the main prize when the team from Omaze paid a surprise visit to their flat.

Mr Potts was in a supermarket at the time so had to rush home to hear the good news.

All stamp duty and legal fees are covered, and the family has also been given £20,000 in cash to help them settle in to their new home. They are free to either live in the house, rent it or sell it.

As well as making the couple multi-millionaires, the draw has also raised crucial funds for Cancer Research UK’s life-saving work into the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of cancer.

The innovative fundraising campaign with Omaze has provided Cancer Research UK with a donation of £500,000.

“This win is truly life changing for us, we’ll stay here and enjoy the house for the summer at least, but whatever we decide to do, we know Ava is set for life," Mrs Potts adds.

“We think the partnership between Omaze and Cancer Research UK is fantastic as it’s raising money to help the charity continue it's incredible work.”
