A woman caught on camera allegedly shouting racist abuse at a bouncer has been arrested and barred from Wetherspoons pubs for life.

A video clip appears to show doorman Tristan Price, 26, being subjected to a torrent of racist abuse outside the Figure of Eight pub in Birmingham on Saturday evening.

She is heard in the video calling the bouncer a "Black ****" and a "f****** ******".

The footage has been viewed more than three million times on social media since it was published.

In the clip, the woman appears to shove the bouncer after she is refused entry to the venue. She is then heard using racist language towards him and appears to spit in his direction.

West Midlands Police said a 24-year-old woman from Worcester has been arrested in connection with the incident.

Wetherspoons said a woman had been banned from pubs in Birmingham city centre for life.

Mr Price said what happened had affected him more than a previous incident when he had a knife pulled on him.

"I don't want to bring trouble to her door but this behaviour needs to be called out,” he said.

“It is completely unacceptable. People have killed themselves because of the racial abuse they suffer, and we can't be silent about it.

"I have had a knife pulled on me while at work, which was pretty shocking. But this was worse, it affected me more because it was so vicious.”

Mr Price, a powerlifting champion and machine operative, has been working as a doorman at night in Birmingham for Professional Security for a little more than a year.

"Too often when we speak up about racism like this it is brushed away but it's a big issue and we need to talk about it,” he said.

He said, initially, he did not want to talk about the incident, partly to protect the woman.

"But then I thought of my three nephews and baby niece, who are just beautiful and I love to bits, and thought it was just not right that they might face experiences like that in future," he said.

"I like to hope that people will not judge me or anyone by the colour of our skin."

West Midlands Police said a woman was detained at at 1pm on Monday after attending a police station at the force’s request.

The woman was arrested on suspicion of racial abuse of a bouncer between 10pm and 11.30pm on Saturday, the force said.

Police said the woman was also being questioned in connection with the racial abuse of another man, also standing near the pub at the time, and criminal damage of the premises’ furniture.

She has been released on police bail, the force said on Tuesday.

Chief Inspector James Spencer, of West Midlands Police, said: “It’s an awful incident and people are understandably disgusted.

“Racist behaviour is completely unacceptable and we are taking this report very seriously.”

Wetherspoons said the woman has been barred for life from its pubs in Birmingham city centre.

A spokeswoman for the pub chain said: “The woman in question had been ejected for her behaviour.

“This behaviour is completely unacceptable and the woman is barred for life.”

Meanwhile, an apology was published on an Instagram account reportedly belonging to the woman involved in the incident.

In the post, she writes that she was “seriously drunk out of my head” and claimed her alleged rant was “freedom of speech”.

Social media users criticised the apology, with one calling it “truly awful”.

It is unclear if the Instagram account or apology is genuine.
