There's something so wonderful about people who rescue animals, and not just dogs and cats, but larger animals like livestock and horses. One such person saved her beautiful horse Tinkerbell from slaughter many years ago and when you learn how old she is, you realize she has been cared for so lovingly to let her get to live to be this age.

She's just so beautiful with how she gallops over when called.

The beautiful video of Tinkerbell was shared by the TikTok account for @Thistlewoodhouse and people can't get over how old this sweet horse is.

One person commented, "Wow, 44! I did not know horses live that long so awesome to be loved & cared for so well." Another replied, "44!!??? And she's moving that good!!!??? that's awesome!! I love this!" Someone else said, "She may be a bit deaf, but she certainly seems spry for her 44 years!  Sweet lil’ frosted faced gal." Someone else responded, "Our sweet pony lived until he was 35."

So many people were stunned to find out Tinkerbell is 44 and the in the comments her owner explained that she rescued her 16 years ago, and she is a small Welsh horse. She replied, "She is a small Welsh, only 11.2 hands. Vet and farrier call her the super pony. They say when you rescue senior animals, they start over." Awww! She went on to add, "Her husband Teddy, passed last year at 30. The others have stepped up and really take care of her." She has three other geldings who also love Tinkerbell.

How Long Horses Usually Live

So most horses typically live between 25 to 30 years, although some can live into their 30s or even 40s with proper care. The lifespan of a horse can be influenced by various factors, including breed, genetics, diet, living conditions, and the quality of veterinary care they receive. In the comments Tinkerbell's mom explained that not only was she a rescue, she was rescued from a kill pen! That was 16 years ago and to think that Tinkerbell has lived for so many year since then is truly a testament to how well she has been cared for and loved.

As far as her breed, which is said to be Welsh, ponies often tend to live longer than larger horse breeds. Regular exercise, a balanced diet, and routine veterinary check-ups are important for maintaining a horse's health and potentially extending its lifespan, coupled with lots of love from an owner.
