A vintage plane operated by a single pilot crashed on the northbound 101 Freeway in Agoura Hills, in Los Angeles County, California, on Tuesday, October 23.The pilot, who was removed from the aircraft with no injuries, issued an emergency alert before losing power after taking off from Van Nuys Airport, according to news reports.The North American SNJ-5 airplane crashed near Liberty Canyon Road around 1:15 pm, according to the Los Angeles County Fire Department.The vintage aircraft, decorated in World War II-era Luftwaffe markings, belonged to the Condor Squadron aviation club, Van Nuys Airport said.All lanes of the freeway were closed and northbound traffic was backed up for miles as firefighters worked to extinguish the blaze and clear the wreckage.
