Charles and the Duchess of Cornwall were given a traditional Maori welcome as they visited the Waitangi Treaty Grounds, one of the key sites in the history of New Zealand on day three of their visit. In a ceremony called a powhiri, two darts – or kopere – were laid on the ground for members of the royal household to pick up in a challenge, while the third was handed to the prince.
