Vanessa Hudgens has told how traumatic it was when a nude photograph of her was leaked online.

The image of the former Disney star appeared on the internet in 2007 and at the time she admitted she regretted ever having had it taken.

Now 31, Hudgens told Cosmopolitan magazine: “It was a really traumatising thing for me.

“It’s really f***** up that people feel like they are entitled enough to share something that personal with the world.”

The actress and singer - who rose to fame in the hugely popular High School Musical films - said that being an actor you “completely lose all grip of your own privacy” because when people are interested in you and your life, they do everything they can to find out more.

Hudgens was just 18 when the photo was leaked, and was one of the first wave of high-profile stars to have such images posted online.

At the time she apologised to her fans and said she was “embarrassed over this situation” and that she wished she had not had it taken.

“I want to apologise to my fans, whose support and trust means the world to me,” she said.

Hudgens found fame playing Gabriella Montez in the High School Musical films, which also starred Zac Efron and Ashley Tisdale.
