Temperatures could reach as high as 22C in the UK at the weekend as the recent warm spell of weather continues.

The Met Office said temperatures will stay around the mid-teens for most parts of the UK for the rest of this week.

However, if conditions are right on Saturday, parts of the south of England could see temperatures as high as 21C or 22C.

But forecasters said these temperatures are likely to be in isolated spots and not nationwide.

Met Office spokeswoman Nicola Maxey said high pressure will bring warm temperatures this week.

She told Yahoo News UK on Monday: “There is a chance with the perfect conditions that we might get 21C or 22C on Saturday in the south east of England or London.

“However, this will depend on sunshine hours and wind speeds, and would be in isolated spots and not right across the country.

“For the rest of this week, we will see temperatures in the mid-teens quite widely, reaching 17C or 18C in London on Tuesday, 16C in Bristol and Manchester.

“Further north, in Newcastle, temperatures will be in low double figures, of 12C or 13C.

“The weather will be largely fine and try tomorrow and for much of this week.”
