The video was shot by local residents and forestry authorities on Saturday (10 December) and shows the elephant approaching a bus and ramming its windshield.

The driver was the only one left in the vehicle and was escorted out to safety by forestry authorities when the animal walked away.

The bus shown in the footage had carried eight observers who drove to the area following reports of the animal's activity.

They wanted to monitor the elephant and warn residents of possible dangers but, as they arrived, the bus broke down and the group disembarked, leaving the driver in the vehicle.

The elephant also heavily attacked a parked truck. Authorities said that they will continue to monitor the elephant activity in the region following the incident.
