World's oldest animal is a gay tortoise

Jonathan and Frederika have been together since 1991

The world's oldest animal is a gay tortoise.

Jonathan the Seychelles giant tortoise is 186-years-old and his true love is a male tortoise, Frederika.

The pair met back in 1991 but it took Jonathan's owners years to realise that Frederika was also male.

They have been a happy couple for decades now and Frederika apparently make Jonathan less irritable and difficult to deal with.

Despite mating frequently, Jonathan's owners were confused about how no offspring were ever produced.

Frederika recently underwent treatment for a lesion at which point they realised she was in fact he!
