Sickening footage shows how a firework exploded in a girl's hoodie as bystanders mocked her.

Horrific video captures the girl desperately trying to remove her clothing as the firework screeches before the blast.

Witnesses can be heard cruelly laughing at her amid the girl's terrifying panic.

The girl, dressed in a pink tracksuit and hoodie covered by a black-coloured jacket, is seen in the middle of a group of young lads where it appears the firework was thrown into her hood.

The incident is alleged to have happened in the Railway Street area of Dublin city centre, the Irish Mirror reports.

It is understood to have taken place in recent days.

The clip shows the moment the girl realises she is in danger and frantically runs away while trying to remove her jacket at the same time.

People can be heard laughing in the background.

The firework starts to screech and eventually explodes.

The video was uploaded on to a Facebook account at lunchtime today and quickly gathered thousands of views before it was removed.

A Irish police spokeswoman said it had received no formal complaint in relation to the incident, before going on to describe it as "extremely dangerous."

She added: "It could have been the case that the video was uploaded to Facebook for the craic and wasn't even reported to Gardai."
