Bangkok, Thailand, welcomed the most travelers, 19.41 million, according to Mastercard's annual Destination Cities Index list.

The city came in first place because it's relatively easy to get to with several direct flights, has a great airport and is a gateway to the rest of Asia, according to travel experts.

London, England, came in second with just over 19 million visitors hoping for a glimpse of the queen.

Paris, France, took third place. 15.45 million lucky people were able to snap pics near the Eiffel Tower.

Rounding out Mastercard's five top destination cities are Dubai and Singapore, which saw over 14 and 13 million visitors respectively.

New York was the only city in America to crack the top 10 destination cities.

The list is from MasterCard after all, so of course they tracked how much people spent.

Dubai had the biggest spenders and it wasn't even close; $28.5 billion.

New York saw just over $17 billion in tourist dollars.

Another takeaway, aside from Shanghai, China which saw nearly half of its travellers on business, people visited the rest of the cities on the list for vacation.
