Never mind over the rainbow – this fighter jet is gunning straight for it.

This stunning snap shows an RAF GR4 Tornado streaking straight out of a rain shower and through a bright rainbow near Bwlch in the Brecon Beacons.

Tiny dots of white sheep are scattered in the background as the jet streaks through the bolt of colours in the perfectly timed shot.

The photographer, who did not give his name, said: "On one of my trips to the Mach loop it had been a particularly quiet day on the Bwlch.

"It was a cold and miserable day and then at about 2.45pm I could see rain clouds in the distance moving towards me.

"At nearly 3pm it started raining about half a mile away and a rainbow formed.

"I was pleading for something, anything to fly past, and literally a minute later a GR4 Tornado flew through.

"It certainly made sitting in the cold all day worthwhile. It was a beautiful sight to see. Sometimes you deserves a little luck for all the perseverance."
