World's largest airport terminal to open in 2019

Construction of Daxing Airport, located about 30 miles outside of Beijing, is well underway.

If everything continues to go as planned, it will open in 2019 and officially claim the title of world's largest airport terminal.

Designed by internationally renowned architect Zaha Hadid, prior to her passing, the passenger hub is planned to cover an astounding 7.5m square feet.

The airport has been designed to minimise passenger travel time between check in, security and gates.

Moving passengers efficiently will no doubt be vital when the airport is up and running.

It's estimated that Daxing will serve roughly 100m travellers each year. It's expected to relieve a great deal of stress in the Beijing International Airport.
