Family's £,1000 holiday 'ruined' after 'ban from talking' at Benidorm TV show hotel

A family claim their holiday was ruined when staff on the hit show Benidormbanned them from talking while staying at the hotel where the programme is filmed.

A son and mum were devastated after being told they had to 'work round' the schedule of the ITV sitcom- which meant their relaxing holiday turned into a week of 'bureaucratic red tape'.

Lee and Susan Carter claim they were unable to use half the pool on the £1,167all-inclusive break at the Sol Pelicanos Ocas in the Costa Blanca resort due to it being taped off for filming.

Office worker Lee, 19, said guests were even banned from taking snaps near the poolside set - and show staff told them off for talking.

The Carters claim they had no idea that the tenth series of the show was being filmed at the hotel before they booked their first holiday in years.

Lee, from Stockport, Greater Manchester, toldThe Sun : "This has ruined our holiday.

"After three years of waiting for one it's so unfair that we could not use the full facilities."

Susan, 47, a carer, added: "We had no warning at all. We couldn't even go round half the pool as it was taped off with big boards up."

Lee said a show staff member told him off for taking a poolside snap, which inadvertently had the Benidorm set in the background.

But according to The Sun, show producers insisted crew were courteous and requests for silence were "standard on any set while cameras are turning", while the tape was needed for health and safety.

Also the hotel bar website states the pool bar is only available from July onwards due to filming.
