The incredibly narrow section spotted in the Wirral must surely be the word's thinnest cycle path.

Even cycling hotshots Sir Bradley Wiggins and Sir Chris Hoy might struggle with the ultrathin space.

The video was shared by @SpinCycleMag on Twitter, who wrote 'Well played @WirralCouncil' before adding the hashtag #cyclepathcockups

The recommended width for a cycle path is 2m but this looks far below that.

In response to the post, one Twitter user said: "You'd need to be circus trained to cope with that!"

@SpinCycleMag has previously uncovered what might well be the shortest cycle path in Britain.

Painted by Knowsley Council in Merseyside, it seems odd that anyone would benefit from it.
