Young kangaroo rescued from canal

The Australia Zoo Rescue Unit were recently called upon to carry out a tricky mission.

They were tasked with rescuing a young kangaroo that had become trapped in a canal.

Writing on Facebook they said: "The Rescue Unit knew that they had to work quickly, the water levels were rising as the tide came in and it was only a matter of time before the barnacles on the rocks would cause serious injury to the kangaroo's feet.

"The team followed the kangaroo down the canal until the exhausted animal couldn't go any further and decided to rest his weary paws on the kayak."

The team were eventually able to sedate him and get him up to safety on dry land.
