Couple get married at Brisbane Airport amid passport chaos

There might have been a major systems failure making some passengers' lives hell - but there was love in the air as one couple managed to get married amid the chaos at Brisbane Airport on Monday.

A number of international airports across Australia and New Zealand experienced long queues and severe delays after a three-hour shutdown of the passports system.

One couple, called Steven and Kellie, were apparently oblivious to the chaos as they tied the knot on Level 4 above the airport shops.

The bride 'walked down the aisle' in a traditional long white dress, carrying a bouquet of red roses.

One bonus? Some passengers who had their flights delayed were able to watch the pair say 'I do', reports Stuff.co.nz.

According to the Daily Mail, the happy couple held a small reception after the ceremony at 8am before jumping on a plane to enjoy their honeymoon.

Brisbane Airport wrote on social media: "HONEYMOON PLANNING TIP: Have your wedding ceremony and reception at Level 4 of the International Terminal immediately before your flight out to your honeymoon destination. #BestIdeaEver."
