People lucky enough to be there in person have been sharing clips of the moment on Instagram, with the actor seen stood on the set and calling out to passing boats.

He was spotted in one of the first scenes on the ride, while the other characters appeared to shut off - with the usual robot Jack nowhere to be seen.

An eyewitness told E! News: "Everyone was surprised, shocked and excited to see him. He acted exactly like his character in the movies."

Depp reprises his famous role in the fifth installment of the movie saga Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales.

It will see Sparrow fleeing Salazar (Javier Bardem) and ghostly sailors that escaped from the Devil's Triangle - while trying to find the Trident of Poseidon.
