A Dutch teenager made an epic fail when he booked himself a cheap ticket to Sydney - and ended up in Canada.

Milan Schipper thought he'd found a bargain flight to Sydney, Australia, but instead found himself 10,000 miles away in freezing conditions in Sydney, Nova Scotia, reports the BBC.

The 18-year-old was all set to spend a year backpacking around Australia, and saw a flight that was £180 cheaper than the rest.

According to CBC News, he said: "So I thought, 'Well, let's book that one.'"

He realised something was wrong at his stopover in Toronto when he saw the Air Canada plane that was to take him to his final destination.

He said: "The plane was really small and so I figured, would that make it to Australia?

"I saw the flight plan was going to go right, not left. It was about the time that I realised there was another Sydney.

"I felt terrible. I think I [swore] in my head for like 10 minutes. But there was nothing I could do about it because I was already up in the air."

And when he got to Nova Scotia, he wasn't particularly prepared in his T-shirt and shorts, reports the Daily Star.

He added: "I was not dressed for the occasion."

He told an airport employee what he'd done and got on a flight for home.

His dad picked him up at the airport and reportedly "laughed an awful lot - just like everyone else", said Schipper.

But he wasn't the only person on the flight to make the mistake, as a US woman also made the same error.

Hopefully he'll make it to Sydney, Australia, really soon.
