Search for missing British backpacker in Thailand



Police are searching for a British tourist in Thailand after he sent a text message to his mum saying he was sorry before vanishing.

Shane Marsden, 28, is believed to have travelled to Thailand from New Zealand.

The Daily Mail reports that he sent a message to his mum Wendy on Tuesday, which read: "I'm sorry."

She told the newspaper that she didn't even know he was in Thailand.

Shaun was travelling in New Zealand with his girlfriend before the couple broke up there.

Gloucestershire said: "Officers are appealing for anyone who has recently been in contact with a Gloucester man believed to be missing in Thailand to come forward.

"There are concerns for the welfare of Shane Marsden (who mainly uses the surname Evans), 28 after messages he sent to family on Tuesday (7 March).

"Shane is believed to be in Thailand after travelling there from New Zealand, where he had been since November.

"Anyone who has been in contact with Shane since Tuesday or with any knowledge about his disappearance is urged to call police on 101 and quote incident 473 of 7 March."

Gloucestershire Police added that they are currently liaising with Interpol around Shane's disappearance.
