Extending your fly-cruise holiday with a stay to explore the destination from which you sail is one of the top cruise trends of 2017 and Singapore is the far-flung city to see on a cruise-and-stay getaway, according to cruise lines.

The Asian city-state is on top cruise firms' radar this year, with a number of fantastic itineraries featuring a pre or post-cruise stopover in Singapore.
P&O Cruises is offering a Taste of Singapore tour on its Singapore fly-cruise, which includes a three-night stay in the city. The cruise line returned to Singapore in 2016 for the first time in a decade, with a total of five departures from the buzzing city. In addition, Royal Caribbean's current season is its longest ever in Singapore.
Furthermore, Singapore was recently named the Destination of the Year at the Seatrade Cruise Awards and this month, Seabourn's Seabourn Encore was christened in Singapore prior to her maiden voyage.
Singapore saw more than one million cruise passenger arrivals in 2015, with a total of 385 cruise ships visiting its ports. And this number is just growing.
The city is not only a delight in winter, but offers a whole host of cultures, cuisines and interesting sights, both old and new. Singapore boasts glittering skyscrapers and prides itself with an infusion of Chinese, Malay, Indian and European influences. Visitors can sample a contrast of sites and activities, from the excellent shopping to a visit to Little India, and a day on the beautiful Sentosa Island.
Mr Jason Chan, Area Director of Singapore Tourism Board, said: "Singapore's standing as a world-class cruise destination for the European fly-cruise market is growing fast and the trend for longer stays in fly cruise-destinations is set to offer a significant boost for Singapore visitor numbers throughout 2017."
"It's demonstrative of Singapore becoming a destination in its own right, with Brits wanting to spend more time to explore the wealth and diversity of experiences on offer, including the Botanic Gardens, multiple cultural ethnic enclaves, world-class food, as well as world-renowned attractions such as Marina Bay and the Supertree Grove."
