This King Charles spaniel had a lucky escape after falling between the train and the platform at Elephant and Castle station in London.

The footage above shows the terrified pooch being pulled back onto the platform using his lead by what appears to be a rail employee.

The dog was quickly passed back to its relieved owner, who got back on board the train with the dog safely in her arms.

She can be heard saying that she's ok but 'scared'.

Sammy the spaniel fell through the gap between the train and the platform when they were boarding the train.

The owner says: "Well he leapt on and the he slipped back for some reason and just went under."

Sammy is reportedly unnerved by the incident but luckily unharmed.
