Little Shayne was found all alone in a tree on the side of a road in Deception Bay, Queensland. Sadly his mother was hit by a car and Shayne was chased by crows up a nearby tree.

Bindi wrote: "Beautiful little Shayne here is slowly adjusting to life without his mother. She was tragically hit by a car and passed away at the scene. However, her gorgeous koala joey, Shayne, managed to survive and is now being cared for here at the Australia Zoo Wildlife Hospital.

"Each day he holds on to his favourite plush toy and is now 10 months old and doing really well.

"With the help of the team at the #AustraliaZooWildlifeHospital and his dedicated carer, Shayne will begin to learn the vital life lessons he needs in order to become an independent, wild koala.

"Please help us to save more lives. For as little as $10, you can help us feed and care for orphaned koala joeys just like Shayne.

"Every donation means the world to us, and our beautiful patients! Find out how you can help by following the link in my bio today. Thank you x."

Shayne is being treated at the Australia Zoo Wildlife Hospital, which is adjacent to Australia Zoo.

Once Shayne is fully grown he will be released back into the wild away from any potential threats.

Australia Zoo Wildlife Hospital cares for thousands of wildlife patients every year, from turtles and birds to koalas.

It was opened in 2004, and was inspired by the memory of Steve Irwin's mum Lyn Irwin who was a pioneer in wildlife care and rehabilitation.
