The Gilbert Fire and Rescue service posted a number of pictures of the scene to Twitter, and revealed that the homeowners escaped unharmed.

Fox13 News reports that the single engine plane was carrying skydivers to an annual fair, and crashed at around 7.30pm after a fire broke out midair.

They all managed to vacate the plane, and the pilot also parachuted from the aircraft before it crashed.

He was taken to hospital for treatment for burns.

According to Mashable, the fire service captain said it was ""nothing short of a miracle" that the couple watching TV were unharmed.
