The shark pulled off one of his fins, but Tyler first of all thought it was one of his friends messing around, reports the LAist.

Tyler loses his speargun when the attack happens, but quickly manages to regain control of it - just before the shark returns.

Speaking to CBS8, he said: "I gave him a nice little jab."

He then swam back to shore as fast as possible to warn others of the shark's presence.

The bite broke two of his toes, but the incident could have been a lot worse.

However, Tyler said the attack won't put him off going back in the water soon.
