The 6.2 magnitude earthquake in Italy left nearly 300 people dead.

Fire offices had gone to Pietro's house to recover possessions when they heard the cat.

The cat is now recovering from the ordeal in a vets.

Pietro isn't the only feline to have survived the quake. Another cat who lived in the nearby village of Illica was also rescued from the rubble.

Sadly both of Giorgiana's owners were killed in the earthquake, ABC Online reports, but the couple's daughters had asked animal welfare to look for their pets.
