Ghost hunter films 'spirit' walking through Wakefield Cathedral

A ghost hunter has captured chilling footage of a ghost-like figure floating through Wakefield Cathedral which he believes is the spirit of a 12th century monk.

The mysterious clip shows a shadowy mass moving through the cathedral in Wakefield, West Yorkshire on Wednesday.

It was shot by ghost hunter Mark Vernon, 50, who believes that the spirit even spoke to him.

"I was investigating it for 40 minutes - I caught a ghost, a shadow man, walking past my camera in broad daylight," he said.

Speaking to the Daily Mail, he added: "If you listen carefully when it appears, I do believe he says "I'm here". He has a bit of a saucy mouth I'm afraid."

Mr Vernon, who has been a paranormal investigator for 35 years, said a team of ghosts he works with on investigations told him it was the spirit of Father Daniel, a monk who was based in the cathedral during the 1100s.

He is adamant there are more ghosts in the historic building.

Earlier this year, a social media user shared a photo of what appeared to be a ghoulish face pressed up against the upstairs window of the Stuart Hotel in Liverpool.

Twitter user @keswickbro told the Liverpool Echo: "I was looking on Google Street View to find a fish and chip shop in Walton, and I came across The Stuart Hotel.

"Something in the top left hand window caught my eye. It looks like a ghostly image of an evil-looking face."

He added: "Look closely and it looks like it is breathing on the inside of the window.

"Next to the face is what looks like a man in a tuxedo and dicky bow."
