'Legendary sea monster' spotted on Google Earth

A giant squid-like creature has been seen 'swimming' off the coast of Deception Island near Antarctica and conspiracy theorists believe it could be the mythical Kraken.

The mysterious 'sea monster' was spotted on Google Earth in April, with social media users suggesting it could be a giant squid.

But it is estimated the size of this creature is over 60 metres long while giant squids grow to just 13 metres.

In Nordic folklore, the Kraken haunted the seas from Norway to Greenland. It would snatch ships with its long tentacles and drag them deep into the ocean.

Scott C Waring at ufosightingsdaily.com said: "This looks like the Kraken. I used Google ruler and it says this is 30 metres (100 feet) from head to end, but the end looks like just the mid area of a giant squid, which means it could be 60+ meters long with tentacles.

"That sounds like a Kraken to me."

A video clip was uploaded to YouTube by conspiracy theory channel secureteam10.

One commenter said the eerie sighting could be "an orca with a giant squid wrapped around it breaching the surface, perhaps in some sort of mortal combat."

Another, referencing the colour of the water, said: "The glowing is created when sea water is agitated from the phytoplankton in the water.

"When I was in the navy I would go to the aft part of the ship and watch the glowing trail left by the ships screws/propellers at night."
