Is it just us or have you noticed that hotels are getting weirder and wackier all the time?

From floating hotel pods to artificial islands and the world's first underwater resort, these somewhat bizarre ideas for holiday accommodation are just some of the latest offerings due to open soon.

One of the most highly anticipated hotel designs of the last decade is this lavish resort carved into the edge of an abandoned quarry outside Shanghai. They're calling it a 'groundscaper' and all the rooms will be cascading down a cliff face.
