Furious American Airlines passenger has meltdown after 12-hour delay

A woman has been filmed having a major meltdown - after her American Airlines flight to Miami was delayed by 12 hours.

The incident occurred at La Guardia airport in New York and the delay was a result of bad weather.

La Guardia was shut down, and the jet was told to divert to Philadelphia to wait for the high winds to die down.

But one woman is seriously unhappy and was caught on camera by another passenger ranting about how she has children waiting to go on holiday.

She points her finger at staff as she shouts: "You're all going to pay for my Disney cruise and you're going to pay for everything else here.

"I'm getting everyone's name here. You want to be sorry, you lied to me. I've been sitting here since eight o'clock, and I've got a nine-year-old who's waiting for her vacation, and a 13-year-old and me. And you're telling all this s*** to all these people.

"If there's no flight just say there's no flight."

Another passenger steps in and presumably tells her to calm down and the woman says: "We've been waiting all our lives for this. I've been waiting for this Disney cruise for a year already."

The rest of the crowd is silent and a number of other people can be seen squirming in their seats.

One expert told ABC News that passengers have to accept that severe weather conditions are outside of the airline's control.

Charlie Leocha, of Travellers United, said: "When it comes to talking about weather, you just have to take a big deep breath and say 'alright, let me try again tomorrow'."

The woman and her family made it on a flight to Miami the next day.
