TripAdvisor has a community of more than 90 million members - so it's no surprise that 2015 saw a massive increase in the number of reviews published on the site.

The travel site now features over 290 million reviews of 5.3 million business and properties, encompassing 126,000 destinations.

So, with all of these stats and figures, which attractions, sites and cities top the list with the most reviews and comments?

It has been revealed that our very own capital city, London, was the most talked-about city in the world in 2015 with a staggering 881,991 reviews in total from visitors all over the world.

The London Eye was the most reviewed attraction in the UK while the Eiffel Tower in Paris was the most reviewed attraction in the world with more than 23,000 reviews to its name.

Unsurprisingly it also had more tour booking enquiries on TripAdvisor than any other attraction globally.

The Flamingo Las Vegas Hotel & Casino was the most reviewed hotel in the world last year with more than 6,000 reviews while the Park Plaza Westminster Bridge received the most reviews of any hotel in the UK, with 2,889 opinions published.

The beautiful Four Seasons Resort in Bora Bora (pictured below), French Polynesia had the most booking enquiries on TripAdvisor than any other hotel in the world.

The busiest day for travel booking enquiries on the site was 27 July and South Korea saw the biggest increase in TripAdvisor reviews of any country globally.

Foodies will be interested to hear that Cafe Du Monde in New Orleans had the most reviews of any eatery in the world, while Sacrée Fleur in Paris had the highest number of table booking enquiries of any restaurant but in the UK it was Restaurant Gordon Ramsay that won this accolade.

Lastly, Japanese travellers post more reviews than any other nation, with an average of nine reviews per reviewer in 2015.

And the longest review of the year? Someone clearly had time on their hands! A contributor from New Jersey, USA wrote a shockingly lengthy 13,047 word long review of Aulani, a Disney resort and spa in Hawaii. You can see the full review here.
