New Zealand voting for a flag they might not even use
New Zealanders have voted on a brand new flag design for their country just in case they decide to get rid of the old one.
Preliminary results say that a flag design featuring the silver fern and the Southern Cross star constellation could be the replacement.

One school girl said: "There's no other country that has silver ferns."
Another added: "The silver fern has been representing New Zealand for over 160 years."

Kyle Lockwood, the designer, spoke of the new image for the flag saying: "The colour black reflects our past and it's a colour which New Zealanders related to very well."
Lockwood says he wanted to create a flag that would represent all of New Zealand.
The flag was voted on as part of the country's Flag Consideration Project.
The country's Prime Minister said: "It reflects an era of New Zealand's history that I think has passed."
He believes that flag needs to be a more distinct design. The current flag features the Union Jack in the top left corner on a blue background with a constellation of red stars on the right hand side.
But not everyone agrees that the flag should be changed, and there is a good chance that people will vote for it not to change but to stay the same as it is now.
One New Zealander said: "It's got so much history behind it. I think it's of significance to a lot of older New Zealanders, especially those who fought in wars."
The population will be able to decide if they want to change the flag in March 2016.
