A dramatic video has emerged of a huge bull elephant attacking a van full of tourists at Kruger National Park, South Africa last month.

A number of voices can be heard coming from inside the car speaking in Dutch. They can be heard discussing whether or not they should stay in the position they are or move away.

As the elephant edges forward, a string of expletives can be heard coming from the motorists. The elephant flexes his trunk and kicks a foot forward before the driver hastily switches into reverse.

Plenty of nervous laughter comes from the cameraman before one of the women on board says: "You can laugh, but he really wants to do something."

The bull elephant traipses alongside the visitors on the grass before swiftly turning and swinging towards the car once more, after which a series of screams to 'drive' can be heard.

Speeding forward initially and then back into reverse, the group eventually manage to gain some distance from the large beast.

According to Newsflare, speaking after the event the driver said: "We were heading South to the Malelane gate to leave Kruger Park with the whole family in a mini van.

"The elephant then tried to flip over our car, [but] luckily that did not happen.

"We had damage to our car but luckily we could drive away."
