Things to do in Yorkshire when it rains
Yorkshire isn't known for its hot and sunny climate - so you won't need us to point out that if you're holidaying in this glorious county there's a fair chance of some rain at some point, no matter what season you're visiting.

1. Go underground at Stump Cross Caverns
It doesn't matter what the weather's like when you're underground, so Stump Cross Caverns a good option for wet days. Nestled in the heart of the Yorkshire Dales, the caverns were discovered in 1860 and were opened to the public soon after. Visitors have the chance to see shimmering stalactites and stalagmites as well as water sculpted walls. The cave system is more than four miles in length (many of the deeper caverns are only available for experienced cavers but there's still plenty to see even if you've never been underground before).
2. Embrace the weather at England's highest waterfall
Sometimes the best way to deal with the bad weather is to get out into it! So if it's raining and you're brave enough, make your way to Hardraw Force, aka the tallest single-drop waterfall in England. This 100ft drop waterfall can be found in the grounds of the historic Green Dragon Inn. It's open daily and there is a heritage centre on site, giving visitors the chance to learn more about the fascinating scenery.
3 Try Wallace and Gromit's favourite cheese at the Wensleydale Creamery
Not only will a visit to Wensleydale give you a chance to taste some of the county's best cheese but you'll also get to witness it being made in the new creamery. The newly refurbished museum will tell you everything you ever needed to know about the history of the cheese-making process and you'll find out more about how the Wensleydale process has evolved. There's even have a dedicated Wallace and Gromit cheese.
4. Learn all about Yorkshire's history at Gayle Mill
Gayle Mill was built in 1784 and since then has stood firm through an industrial revolution, two world wars and the invention of the internet. The mill has a strong and proud history with an ancestor of one of the founders still working there today. Visitors to this working heritage mill will have the opportunity to take part in a number of hands on activities and tours.
