British tourist rescues stray dog that saved her from attack in Greece

A British holidaymaker has spent thousands rescuing a stray dog that saved her from an attack while on holiday in Crete.

Georgia Bradley, 25, from Cornwall, was on holiday with her boyfriend in Georgioupoli when she decided to take a stroll on the beach.

She was approached by two Greek men asking to take her for a drink.

When she declined, they reportedly became aggressive and started pulling at her arm.

That's when Georgia first saw the dog, which she has called Pepper.

According to the Plymouth Herald, Georgia said: "Pepper shot out of nowhere, jumped up at me and began barking and licking my hand, and that made the men think twice."

She added: "She saved me. She must have noticed something was wrong. When I went back to the apartment she followed me and finally let us stroke her.

"We had an instant bond."

Georgia took Pepper to a local animal rescue centre and vet, but was turned away by both.

When she left for the airport, she was left "heartbroken" to see Pepper running after the car.

When Georgia got home, she couldn't stop thinking about Pepper, and booked a flight back to the island for two weeks later.

She went back to the same beach and was elated to find Pepper still there, calling the moment she saw her "the best feeling ever".

According to the Daily Mail, Georgia found a vet on the island who agreed to microchip, worm and administer a rabies jab to Pepper, as well as a pet passport.

Pepper then spent 21 days in quarantine in boarding kennels before being allowed to travel to Britain.

Georgia then returned to Crete for a third time and was eventually allowed to take Pepper home.

But there was another surprise in store - the kennel owner told her Pepper was pregnant, and, just a week after landing back in Cornwall, she gave birth to six puppies.

Georgia added: "It has been such a crazy journey. But I am over the moon. Pepper has settled in brilliantly."
