If you're going on a city break any time soon, you need to know about a new series of downloadable free travel guides launched by the independent travel search site Momondo.

Available for 11 cities around the world, the guides have been put together with the help of locals who know all the best places to see, shop, stay, eat, drink and generally have a jolly good time.

But these aren't just your run-of-the mill downloadable travel guides. Momondo Places does something rather clever by endeavouring to inspire you according to your every mood. Feeling romantic? Then check the recommendations for things to do as a couple. Brought the kids with you? There are scores of tried and tested things to do for families.

Each city guide features more than 200 tips, all matched to the app's six distinct moods: romantic, social, family, local, cultural and fancy.

Momondo Places is easily downloadable on the iPhone, for 11 cities: Copenhagen, London, Moscow, Amsterdam, Bangkok, Barcelona, Berlin, Lisbon, New York, Paris and Rome, with more to come later this year.

And did we mention it was free?

We put the app to the test with a whistlestop tour of Copenhagen. Check out our slideshow below to see what we did...
