British holidaymaker unwittingly saves murder suspect from balcony fall
A British holidaymaker saved a blood-soaked victim of a balcony fall in Majorca - only to find later that he was a murder suspect fleeing the scene of a crime.
Archie Campbell and his partner Maureen Kinnane were staying at the Globales Palma Nova Palace Hotel in Palmanova when the incident occurred, reports the Inquisitr.
Kinnane woke up Campbell, 55, when she spotted the man dangling from the balcony above their fourth-floor hotel room.
They watched horrified as the man then fell on to a ledge next to their balcony, and desperately tried to hang on to him to stop him from falling onto the concrete below.
Speaking to the Mirror, Archie said: "My partner and I grabbed him. He would have fallen to the concrete below if we hadn't.
"He managed to jam his foot under the balcony but was hanging upside down.
"He was covered in blood but I didn't know what had happened at that point."
Within a few minutes they heard banging on the door, and their room was flooded with police. They then learned that a man had been bludgeoned in a vicious assault in the room upstairs, and had later died of his injuries.
Officers and firefighters then spent an hour getting the man from the ledge into the couple's room.
The couple had booked their holiday through Thomson Holidays.
Archie, who runs a pub in London, added: "Both Thomson and the Globales group have not been back in touch with me since we came home. The holiday was totally ruined."
A Thomson spokeswoman reportedly told the Daily Record that dealing with the terror attacks at their Tunisian resort meant they hadn't yet been able to investigate the incident fully.
