10 really weird things you didn't know about Britain
Not many would deny that the British are a strange bunch, with some dubiously quirky traditions as well as some distinctly odd habits.
But when this little list of weird and wonderful facts about our great nation arrived in our inbox recently, courtesy of shopping website brilliantlybritish, we were taken aback, not to say just a tad incredulous.
Did you know, for example, that the queen never travels with a passport? Or that Chicken Tikka Masala is not a curry dreamt up in India - it's a British dish invented in Scotland by a Glaswegian who had apparently been trying to make soup at the time?
And has it ever been brought to your attention that, on average, 6,000 people in Britain die as a result of tripping over their trousers? We're not sure we believe the latter, but it's one of several strange but true trivial facts that can be backed up by evidence, apparently.
