A female tourist has been mauled to death by a lion while on safari in South Africa.
The America woman, thought to be in her 40s, was killed when the animal jumped through an open window in Lion Park, near Johannesburg.
Another US tourist she was travelling with sustained injuries while he was trying to free her.
According to the Guardian, Scott Simpson, operations manager of the privately-run venue, told Talk Radio 702: "There was a car driving to the lion camp and the lion did come through the window and bite the lady.
"The ambulance arrived quite soon but the lady had passed away."
According to the Mirror, Simpson added: "This is not a common occurrence. We have plenty of signage at the park, indicating that windows should always be closed while driving in the lion park.
"Brochures are handed out to all of the tourists who visit the park.
"I really don't understand why people think it's okay to leave windows open."
The Lion Park is a popular attraction located 19 miles north of Johannesburg, and has been visited by celebrities like John Legend, Shakira and actress Nathalie Portman.
Back in March, Australian tourist Brendan Smith survived an attack by a lion after leaving his window open at the same attraction.
At the time, he took to Facebook to share news of the incident, writing: "I wish I was LION but can now say I have life access to the people who have been mauled by a lion group. No later than 36 hours after touching down in Africa I find myself in hospital after a lion jumped through the car window and decided to go to town on my legs.
"Pretty full on but am alive, with insurance coming to the party and an influx of curious Africans wanting to see 'the lion man'. Could have and should have been a lot worse but chicks dig scars so I'll be sweet!"
