London's City Airport has made it into the world's top ten most scenic airports, according to a Forbes report.

The city's newest airport beat stiff competition from some of the most spectacular destinations in the world, including Cape Town Airport in South Africa.

Every year, private jet charter broker PrivateFly asks the public to vote for their favourite airport approaches. This year there were more than 2,000 votes, covering 147 airports, including Grand Canyon and Rio De Janeiro, neither of which reached the top ten.

In first place for 2015 was Queenstown Airport on New Zealand's South Island. PrivateFly chief executive Adam Twidell, a pilot, described the airport as idyllic .

"New Zealand's South Island has some of the most jawdropping natural scenery anywhere in the world and Queenstown Airport's landing offers the perfect airside introduction."
