Severed animal leg left rotting on top of London bus stop

A severed goat's leg has been left rotting on top of a bus stop in Clapham Junction for at least a month.

The leg is sitting on top of bus shelter Y on Saint John's Road, and it is not clear how it got there.

Commuter Riz Wasti posted a picture of the leg to his Twitter page, alerting the council by writing: "@wandbc seeing this leg of lamb at bus stop Y near Clapham/Northcote road for few months. Prob welldone by now?!"

Wandsworth Council responded by tweeting Transport for London (Tfl) about the issue.

@RizWasti Not a very nice sight! @TfL please can you remove this from the roof of your bus shelter o/s 79 St. John's Road, SW11 1QZ

According to the Wandsworth Guardian, Suzanne Perkins, a graphic designer from Battersea, said she was horrified when her friend pointed out the leg on the bus stop roof.

She said: "I was at the bus stop with a friend and she said 'do you realise what's up there?' and I had a look. You can see very clearly a hoof and a hip bone.

"She said it's been there since March. It's not just like it's been there for one or two days – it has been up there for a month.

"Why has it been there so long? What is going on with general street cleaning?"

Tfl reportedly told the Evening Standard it was now taking action to remove the leg.
