David Beckham plans star-studded 40th birthday bash in Morocco

David Beckham turns 40 on Saturday 2 May - and he's reportedly planning on celebrating with a star-studded blow-out birthday bash in Marrakech, Morocco.

The former footballer is apparently set to fly out a host of celebrity pals - including Tom Cruise, Guy Ritchie, and Gordon Ramsay - to his favourite five-star resort in Marrakech, reports the Daily Mail and OK!magazine.

David's best friend Dave Gardner and his partner Liv Tyler are also thought to be on the guest list for the trip to the luxury Amanjena resort.

On its website, the Amanjena is described as "the first Aman resort on the African continent and is located just outside the ancient city of Marrakech.

"Set within an oasis of palms and olive trees, Moorish heritage is reflected throughout the pisé-walled resort, including the Morocco luxury pavilions that radiate out from an ancient bassin, echoing the style of a sultan's palace.

"Amanjena offers a variety of guided excursions on foot, bicycle or private car into the medina, the souk and squares, palaces, gardens and craft shops of ancient Marrakech."

There's also the chance to go hiking or biking into the High Atlas Mountains

What's more, if you don't actually want to leave the hotel, there's certainly enough to keep you occupied - or not, whatever your preference.

There's golf for David and his friends at The Amelkis Golf Course, alongside Amanjena, which offers "spectacular views to the High Atlas Mountains".

And pampering for Victoria and her pals is easy. The website adds: "The hammam or steam bath is as central to Moroccan life as mint tea. Not surprising then that it is also the steamy heart of Amanjena's Spa. Each hammam (one for men, another for women) is complemented by showers, washrooms, a dressing area and a glassed-in whirlpool, opening onto a fountain courtyard bordered by a pisé-wall two metres high. The hammam itself is a stepped, two-chamber room of Moresque arches meeting a vaulted ceiling.

"Treatments available at the Spa include massages, facials, scrubs and wraps, as well as manicures and pedicures. The Spa also incorporates a timber-floored gym."
