Weird things you can take on a plane

We all know that liquids over 100ml, sharp scissors and golf clubs will be confiscated by airport security if we try to carry them in our hand luggage, but there are a few strange and unexpected items the airlines and airports don't mind us taking on a flight.

Knitting needles, for example, are allowed in your hand luggage; while you must place a screwdriver must in your hold luggage. Some UK airports and a number of airlines will allow you to carry Christmas crackers providing they are sealed, in their original packaging and don't contain any dangerous novelty gifts. But don't even think about packing party poppers in your carry-on as they are strictly banned and will be confiscated by airport security.

And there are even weirder things passengers are allowed to carry on a plane, such as a miniature horse or pot-bellied pig - as long as you can prove you are in need of 'emotional support'. Ever wanted to carry your own parachute? It's one of the things you can fly with.
