After mostly dry weather this weekend, next week is looking warm in Britain before an unsettled weekend and possibly snow before the end of April, according to forecasters.

Leon Brown at The Weather Channel says: "It will be cool this weekend in the east, before becoming warmer again next week with plenty of sunshine.

"There will be a change in the weather pattern from the end of next week. Pressure will fall and it likely to become wetter."

Britons are being warned to make the most of the sunshine and warmth while it lasts.

Mr Brown adds: "There is a hint of a colder Arctic plunge during next weekend with a much colder end to April and start to May. We may see snow again in the forecast for high ground in the north!"

After a mostly sunny weekend with some showers over the south west, Sunday is expected to be cloudy for central and eastern England. Some spits of light rain and drizzle are possible in the east.

Leon says the best of the sunshine will be in south west England, West Wales and over Northern Ireland to west Scotland.

Plenty of sunshine is predicted for next week and it will "gradually become warmer again, with some chilly nights and local air frosts early next week so gardeners beware."

Mr Brown says: "Temperatures will be warmest over the west and later the south, perhaps back up to the high teens to 20C by mid-week and could see 22C by Friday before the weather breaks and becomes a lot more unsettled and cooler during next weekend."

Forecaster Chris Brown at The Weather Network says: "There are indications that the high will finally break down into the following weekend, with a wet and unsettled end of April expected with showers or longer spells of rain likely across much of the country."

Speaking to the Daily Mail about next week's weather, Met Office forecaster Laura Young says: "We're not going to have temperatures as high as Wednesday, although you can never rule it out completely. We're experiencing high pressure and very settled weather, but it is different form of high pressure from the one we saw on Wednesday.

"We can expect to see temperatures about 6C to 8C above average which is pretty good, and the temperatures will creep up on a daily basis - but not up to 25.1C."
