Pictured: British tourist, 21, who 'shot himself dead at Phuket firing range'

A British tourist from the Isle of Skye has died after reportedly shooting himself in the head at a firing range in Phuket, Thailand.

In a video showing his last moments, Liam Colven is seen hiring a handgun at a shooting range before using the weapon on himself. A shocked member of staff tries to step in and prevent his death.

Another worker at the Thalang shooting range told Phuketwan: "He came by a taxi. He bought a ticket for shooting a 11mm handgun and then shot himself in the head."

Police believe the 21-year-old visited the holiday island with the intention to kill himself.

According to The Bangkok Post, a taxi driver who said he had hailed him near a local resort said he asked to be taken somewhere where he could shoot. He showed no signs of stress while in the taxi, the driver said.

But Phuketwan reports that the taxi driver heard him arguing with someone on the phone on the way to the shooting range.

Last night the Foreign Office was urgently investigating reports of Mr Colven's death.

An FCO spokesman told the BBC: "We are urgently working with the authorities in Thailand to establish whether a British national has died in Phuket."
