This is the moment when a man was run down by a driver who failed to stop.

In a bid to track down the driver, police have released CCTV images of the hit and run in Didsbury, Greater Manchester.

The 37-year-old man was crossing Parrs Wood Road at its junction with Wilmslow Road at around 10.30pm on January 29 when he was struck by a silver Peugeot 307. Words: PA

He suffered a broken neck, cuts to his head and a back injury.

The car did not stop and carried on towards School Lane.

Sergeant Iain Lamb said: "We would like to ask anyone who may have seen a car matching this description in the area at the time, or who thinks they recognise the vehicle, to contact us.

"Also, if you know anyone who owns a silver 307 with damage to its front end, please ring the numbers below.

"It is possible the driver may not have realised they hit anyone, but we must speak to the driver as a matter of urgency."
