Two weeks in Spain: The average holiday for Brits

Spain set to be most popular 2015 holiday destination

average Briton's holiday plans revealed

A survey has revealed that the average British holiday in 2015 will be a two-week couple's break in Spain taken out of peak season.

Spain proved to be a very a popular choice in the survey by Monarch Airlines which revealed that over half of all breaks booked for 2015 are to Spain.

Spain is more than three times as popular as next-placed Greece, reports the Daily Mail.

The survey also revealed that two thirds of holidays this year will be taken by couples.

Family holidays are less popular this year, perhaps because of the expense of travelling during the school summer holidays.

In fact, the survey revealed that the most popular months to travel are outside of the school summer holidays.

September holidays are most popular with 45% of those surveyed booking a break in September, followed by May (32%) and June (31%).

Only one in five are planning to travel in July or August.

It seems Brits really want to treat themselves this year with hotel accommodation proving more popular than villas and apartments. The survey also revealed that the most popular amount of holiday spending money is £400 to £500 per person, reports Euro Weekly News.

Ian Chambers, head of retail and online at Monarch Airlines said: 'This research into 2015's holiday plans show that our customers will be enjoying some seriously relaxing breaks this year.

'Spain's popularity amongst those looking for sun, sea and sangria is as strong as ever, and with Greece being the second most popular destination for 2015 it's no wonder that our new Greek routes are in high demand.

'It's also great to see savvy travellers making the most of the exceptional bargains that are to be had outside of the traditional peak season – June is a month that offers the excellent weather conditions of high summer without the crowds.

'However as our research shows, more people are seizing the opportunity and those looking to secure one this year need to act fast to make sure they're not left behind.'
