A huge 20ft 'crocodile' was spotted lurking in the waters off Devon this weekend.

The 'creature' was spotted around half a mile from shore in waters off Plymouth Sound in Devon, and local Allan Jones managed to get some photos.

According to the Metro, he said: "I've never seen anything like it – the first thing that struck me was that it looked just like a huge crocodile.

"The creature or object moved in circles, appeared to curve its shape and moved a considerable distance from left to right, turn and then move back the other way."

According to the Express, he added: "The creature or object then turned and remained stationary. And the sun was right in my eyes - but it was very strange.

"It must have been 20-foot long. And it was moving against the current at some points.

"I'd love to know what it was."

Saltwater crocodiles can grow more than 22ft in the wild, but are only found in waters around south east Asia and northern Australia.

Back in February 2014, police were on the hunt after a 6ft crocodile was reported to be on the loose in Bristol.

Nick Gargan, the Chief Constable of Avon and Somerset Police, said the reptile had been spotted by a bus driver under a bridge in Bristol.

What do you think this new mysterious object is? A reptile? The new Nessie? Or just a piece of wood bobbing along?
