Bus driver goes flying through windshield after being hit by truck
Shocking footage shows the moment a bus driver goes hurtling through the windshield after a pickup truck crashes into his vehicle.
The accident happened on 2 January in Albuquerque, New Mexico.
According to ABC News, the truck driver went through a red light before crashing into the ABQ Ride bus.
Cameras inside the bus show the driver struggling to steer before he loses control and smashes into a huge concrete sign post.
He's then seen flying out of his seat and through the windshield, coming to rest with most of his body hanging out of the bus.
Unbelievably, both the bus driver and the pickup truck driver managed to walk away from the crash with only minor injuries.
According to KRQE News, ABQ Ride spokesman Rick DeReyes said the driver was not wearing a seatbelt which is a violation of policy and state law, but he added the driver had a good record.
The paper adds that city officials may go after the driver of the truck's insurance to recoup costs for damage to the bus and the Route 66 sign he hit.
The bus had no passengers inside it at the time of the crash. According to the Inquisitr, Stephanie Gallos, a driver that worked on the same route, was in the same bus a few minutes before.
She said: "I realised that was the bus I was just on and I had to come see if he was OK. It's amazing that the bus got turned all around like that. I've been here for 15 years and this is the worst bus accident I've ever seen."
